Het Nieuwe Instituut arose on 1 January 2013 out of a merger of the Netherlands Architecture Institute; Premsela, The Netherlands Institute for Design and Fashion; and Virtueel Platform, the e-culture knowledge institute.
Consist of: archives of architects and townplanners: drawings, documents/correspondence, vintage photographs, competition entries; archives of architects' associations and schools.
Strenghts: ca 500 complete archives from the most important Netherlands architects, up till '70.
Museum House Sonneveld, with original interior from 1933
Collection accessible through inventories and catalogues, digitisation in development.
Collection can be reproduced.
Institute has no conservation laboratory.
NAi collects archives of Netherlands architects, townplanners, a selection of landscape- and interior architects.
Project files and models from contemporary designers.
