Collection The Richard Meier & Partners Architects Model Museum offers a rare glimpse into the model-making and architectural process of the firm. The model archive occupies 3600-square feet and features works from the 1960s to the present. Most prominent in the museum are large scale presentation models and study models of the Getty Center in Los Angeles, an institution widely regarded as Mr. Meier´s most ambitious project and one that required fifteen years to complete. The collection also includes the first model for the Smith House in Connecticut, one of the early works that established Mr. Meier´s reputation, a series of unbuilt projects such as a 1981 design for the Renault Headquarters in France, prototypes for furniture and product design as well as collages and sculptures composed of discarded Getty Center Model pieces.
Collection Policy The Richard Meier Archive is an invaluable resource that contains the entire professional history of the firm including sketches/drawings, photographs, and models, as well as collages, sculptures and other art created by the Principial Richard Meier. The archive has been maintained for over 40 years.
