Collection
The Architecture Museum was formerly known as the Architecture Archive and began as a private collection assembled from the mid 1970s by architectural historian Donald Leslie Johnson. It holds more than 200,000 items, including approximately 20,000 drawings,4,000 antique prints and a 2,500-volume library.

Collection Policy
The University of South Australia’s Collections and Museums Policy and the Architecture Museum’s General Policy and Collection Policy documents guide decisions regarding Museum acquisitions. The collection covers drawings, specifications, photographs, correspondence, notebooks and diaries, ephemera and a small number of artefacts. It also includes a substantial special collection of British and European architectural prints and engravings. The Museum’s Library comprises books, monographs, periodicals and trade catalogues and brochures.

Montag to Wednesday, 9am to 5pm
Appointment preferred.
Admission free.

Exhibition
Major exhibitions are held in University of South Australia exhibition spaces and by invitation in external galleries. Exhibitions to date: ‘Unwrapped’ (2005), ‘Architectural Preludes: one hundred years of student drawings’ (2006), ‘Reform, Fitness and Fun’ (2009), ‘Suburban Dreams: house and home in Adelaide 1945-1965 (2010), 'Designing for Communities: The Civic Architecture of Russell & Yelland Architects' (2011), 'Build me a city ...' (forthcoming 2012)Built Heritage Research Fellowship at the Architecture Museum project reports, Honours and PhD student theses.
The Museum has a program of changing displays and installations in its foyer display case and researchers' space.
