Fjords, waterfalls, stave churches and modern architecture


Friday May 30th 2008

Bus tour starting in Oslo. Stopping at Lillehammer to see the Visitor Centre (by Carl-Viggo Hølmebakk) at the home of Nobel Prize winner author Sigrid Undset, next to the 2004 Olympic ski jump. Up Gudbrandsdalen valley, stopping at Ringebu stave church.

Saturday May 31st 2008
Driving over the mountains to the fjords in Western Norway. Visiting Urnes stave church (UNESCO world heritage list) and the Glacier Museum by Sverre Fehn.

Sunday June 1st 2008
Ferry along the spectacular Nærøyfjord (UNESCO World Heritage List). From Gudvangen to Undredal, Aurland and Stegastein viewing platform (by Saunders & Wilhelmsen) with a magnificent panorama over the fjord landscape. Over the mountains to Borgund stave church with a new Visitors Centre by Askim and Lantto. A walk down the winding, historic Vindhella road.

Monday June 2nd 2008

A walk in the charming wooden village Lærdalsøyri. Up the winding Stalheimskleivene road at Gudvangen, passing a water fall and driving to the Bergen, the second biggest city in Norway.

Tuesday June 3rd 2008
The tour ends with a city walk to see the architectural highlights of Bergen.

The participants fly out from Bergen or take the bus back to Oslo (no extra charge for the bus, but the trip lasts 10 hours.)

NOK 7200 (ca. 935 €) - single room. NOK 6100 (ca.792 €) - double room.

The post conference tour will be organized with a minimum of 20 participants.

Maximum number of participants is limited to 30.
